    Snippets of my mundane life

Packing away parts of my life
Random thoughts of Bluey at Sunday, April 30, 2006 10:55 pm | Permalink
My flatmate has decided to move back to Sydney so I am planning to move into an one-bedroom unit. I've not found a place yet, but I've started packing my stuff in boxes. I've piles of lecture notes and therapy handouts to sort and organise. That is going to take a while.

I had already moved 3X in my 3+ years in Brisbane. I know this will definitely not be my last move. Sometimes things do not work out the way we'd like them to be so it may be easier to just wait and see what comes along our way.

    Flu vaccine and sleeping tablets
Random thoughts of Bluey at Wednesday, April 26, 2006 1:38 pm | Permalink
I decided to get a flu shot this year because my flatmate and my colleague have been raving about it for the past 2 years. The shot was almost painless ... phew! We'll have to wait and see.

I've been taking my leftover flu mixture to help me sleep 2X last week. I thought maybe I should get some over-the-counter sleeping aids from the pharmacy. 8 capsules of night time sleep aid cost me more than A$10. That means it would be cheaper for me to continue taking my flu mixture! Doh!

    Need some flattery?

How often do we get told that we are beautiful, talented, fabulous and loved?

Every 1 second ... if you go to here:

    Love Thy Neighbour?

... not when they talk on top of their voices after 11 at night
... not when their conversations wake you up in the middle of the night
... not when they have no idea what 'keep it down' means
... not when they do their laundry in the middle of the night and your unit is right above the shared laundry facilities.
... not when their heated arguments wake you up at 3 a.m. in the morning

    Rock Opera - RENT
Random thoughts of Bluey at 5:09 pm | Permalink
I went to watch RENT, a rock opera, last night. It is about a group of young friends living in the city of New York who struggle to stay alive, to have a roof over their heads, to love and to grief for their losses.

I quite enjoyed it. There were several scenes when I was almost moved to tears. The guy, who was sitting in front of me, was unable to hold back his tears. Therefore, I would say the cast did a pretty good job.

    Hope and rainbow
Random thoughts of Bluey at Sunday, April 09, 2006 8:32 pm | Permalink

Just when you start to lose hope, you catch a gleam of the rainbow. Instead of asking yourself whether that is a fragment of your imagination, savour the moment while it lasts.

Sometimes hope can be as transient as rainbow. When it starts to fade away, you can say to yourself, "At least I have had a moment of hope."

    Fort Lytton National Park
Random thoughts of Bluey at 8:14 pm | Permalink

We reached there just before 8:30am. The gate was closed so we climbed through the gate (too much effort to climb over the gate!). We were hoping to finish the walk before the staff/volunteers came in.

What we saw during the walk.

At the end of our walk, we were greeted by a very unhappy ranger who gave us a lecture on why we should not have climbed over the gate (which we clarified that we climbed through the gate). Anyway, it was an unusual walk.

    Retail Therapy
Random thoughts of Bluey at Saturday, April 08, 2006 8:25 pm | Permalink

Retail therapy only works for me when I manage to find bargains ... like today! I bought 2 dresses, 3 tops, 1 bag and some lip sticks. I was very happy the whole morning :)

    I love buying myself happiness!
